Diary of a Revesby Shepherdess- September 2026
August has been a busy month with all the tups going in with the ewes for January lambing. I have mineral drenched all the ewes before the rams went in and fly treated them all.
Thankfully we have finally had some rain so all of the fields are starting to come back.
The new ram Ariso has covered his ladies which are the offspring of the other rams. Merlot and Monty have both covered there ewes. We have a couple of ewes that have been remarked so they will lamb a few weeks after the first lot. The boys will be left in for a third cycle and then will be pulled out. Then I shall have to pen up the boys for a few days to let them bond again otherwise they will fight. All the ewes will be put back together for winter.
The next job is to name all of this year’s lambs for registration. So far we have Pumba, Simba and Mufasa for the three ram lambs. Now just to find names for the four girls. I also sold Revesby Barnaby to a young lady starting out. He’s got a great home in Norfolk and he even went out to a show on Bank Holiday Monday and placed 4th against all different breeds.
