Take a Moment – September 2026
Dear friends,
I am sat here this last couple of hours listening to the constant drone of traffic traveling past the house, cars I expect with people returning home from a day out at the coast or a Bank holiday short break.
It is the first time I can remember when we haven’t been harvesting and having the worry of our harvest machinery travelling from A to B amongst the busy traffic and impatient drivers and that it’s never pleasant for anyone involved .
Harvest with this very hot summer and lack of rain ended the harvest sooner than we have ever known it. and with the very hot and dry conditions it has been a struggles for all in the farming industry and has brought the harvest to an early completion mostly due to the poor crops due to lack of those showers we often get in the summer where following a dry spell it rains heavy for a few hours; they sadly never came soon enough for some.
This early harvest though for our family meant where as we would be working all the August bank holiday it has meant everyone normally engaged with the harvest has been able to be at home with the their families( which I am sure went down well.)
We even got to go ‘Revesby show’ which, though very hot was a lovely event, something we haven’t managed to do for years.
Though not the best cereal or vegetable harvest for many in the country we have probably gathered more than many countries, hindered by conflict, earthquakes and floods.
Acknowledging this we will be gathering on the 11th October for our Harvest service at Revesby Parish Church. The service always brings the local community together not just the farmers, but everyone who wishes to thank God for ‘All good gifts around us’ for Gods provision again this year for us and for the whole of creation, the birds and animals alike.
Following the service once again we will share a Harvest tea together in the church. Which you will need to book as it is always popular. (Booking details below)
I hope you will be able to join us you will receive a warm welcome.
