Take a Moment- September 2025
‘Take A Moment’ September
Dear Friends,
I hope this letter finds you well.
We are just settling down to September after a busy August, Revesby has been teeming with visitors. We had the Revesby country fair, the V W festival, the Church monthly Coffee morning and the village hall book sale and not to mention Revesby estate walk and guided tour. All that alongside East Kirby Aviation centre events with their hundreds of visitors.
The local shops and pubs have been kept very busy welcoming people, which no doubt has been a bonus. Our roads have been busy too, not only with holiday traffic, but farm traffic with the work going on in the fields as harvest has been in full swing. The harvest now is safely gathered in. I have never known a harvest be over so soon! Though maybe due to lack of rainfall which has resulted in lower yield on most crops.
It’s not only the crops that missed out on the rainfall but as families involved with the harvest we have too we have missed a welcome night or two respite, to recharge our batteries and spend some time together.
We will soon be gathering at the church as will many villages for Harvest festivals, to give thanks for crops gathered in so far; not only grain, but seed and pulses , fruit and vegetables, straw and hay and, also, a busy harvest season at a close.
Our church here dedicated to St Lawrence will be holding there harvest festival on the 5th October at 3.00pm so bring the children and grandchildren, and let them enjoy bringing up some vegetables, pot of your homemade jam, or a bag apples if your garden crops haven’t succumb to the dry weather. Items which support those struggling with higher food prices.
After the service you can enjoy a picnic box tea and sit in the church and catch up with people you haven’t seen for a while.
The village will become quieter now as the higher levels of holiday traffic stops rolling in, the children have gone back to school, and we will begin looking to next year as we tend our fields and gardens and take in the changing of the season and our rural landscape.
Taken from Genesis 2 The lord took the man and women and put them in the garden to till it and look after it.
We will sow in faith and hope.
Every Blessing.
