Take a Moment- October 2025
‘Take a Moment’
The first Sunday of October marked the 25th Anniversary of my Ordination at Lincoln Cathedral. I remember It was a wonderful day, looking back those times it was such a journey of faith. In the previous May as a family, we headed to Scotland for a holiday, I then travelled alone to Scotland’s island of Iona, on a personal retreat in preparation for my Ordination
On the 2nd of November the churches celebrate ‘All saints’ when we recall the stories of the saints who brought the Christian faith to our shores including St Columba who with 12 of his followers founded the monastic community on the Scottish island of Iona in the year 563 AD.
St Columba is the most influential Saint associated with Iona and was crucial in spreading the Christian faith among the Picts and Gaels of Scotland and Iona. It is a wonderful spiritual place, I recommend it if you want to make a pilgrimage to a Holy place.
On the 1st of November we will be remembering all those who journey has taken them to a heavenly places. Our annual service of ‘All souls’ will take place at St Helens. When we give thanks for the lives of those who have died this year, those who have died within our group of parishes and all those present who wish to remember loved one.
Families are invited light a candle as their names of their loved ones are read out, celebrating in our hearts their lives and their influence for good as did the saints of the past. Short Prayers and readings are said. Following the service we can spend some time together over tea and coffee and we will be here to offer any support.
Still in this month of remembering Revesby St Lawrence’s on the 7th at 2.00 will be holding as service to remember those from the Revesby area who served and those who lost their lives in the great wars, and those who died as their plane limped home tragically crashing on the edge of the village.
On 9th November 10.45 our group of parishes will gather for Remembrance Sunday at St Helens Mareham le fen joining the country in remembering and honouring all who have served our country in past and present times .
Please be assured of a warm welcome at any of these events.
Take care. Revd Kathy 01790763266
