Diary of a Revesby Shepherdess – May 2026

Show season has well and truly started. Lots of washing trimming every evening. I decided to take a slightly smaller team out for the early shows this year. Nottinghamshire show was our first show of the year. Barnaby was entered in the ram class which was a mix of older and younger rams, I knew he would struggle on weight with the older boys but he come home with a 5th place and Harry the ram I sold last year was in the same class coming 4th. It was then Dumbo the ram lambs turn, Dumbo is the strongest lamb I have ever produced and he managed to get reserve male champion. It was a great achievement for the flock and hopefully he will only get better.

My shearling ewes also did well middle of the class, so hopefully they will do better as the season goes on. Next week is Woodhall and then a break before the National in Staffordshire. Hopefully the success will continue. It has also been busy for the non show sheep. All the older ewes got sheared, leaving two left to shear once the lambs are bit older. All the lambs got weaned and four wethers have gone to a therapy farm in Yorkshire where they will help with mental health, disabilities and be support animals.
