Take a Moment – June 2026
Hello Everyone,
I hope you have managed to watch some of the Chelsea flower show this year. I must admit I have never watched it before, but I have managed to catch some of it this year and it has been a blessing on the warmest days recently to put on the television for an hour and enjoy a cold drink.
There has certainly been some lovely gardens and plants and some exotic looking ones. I must admit I like most, the cottage garden plants and seeing the use of wild flowers to naturalise the gardens.
There has been a big change in the stately homes over the years from the formal manicured gardens to a more informal less manicured approach which draws in the countryside which most of these houses are surrounded by.
In the bible Jesus speaks of the flowers of the fields and their beauty being more impressive than King Solomon in all his glory.
Well they are beautiful and I must admit, I’m not very good at arranging flowers I just put them in a vase! I remember a local flower arranger said to me once, don’t worry, you can’t spoil flowers their beauty speaks for themselves, which I happily agreed with!
Their beauty is so individual (much like people). When you look closely at the most insignificant looking flowers them with the more exotic plants.
Our gardens are individual, from the more manicured, admired and full of beautiful tendered plants, to the those like mine, which is at the moment untidy, but feeding the insects and so feeding the birds which I am happy to say make their home in the garden.
Whatever we do with our gardens or window boxes and pots if they help us to relax and find some peace they are a real blessing in our busy world.
Take care.
