Take a Moment- July 2025
‘Take a Moment’ July 2025
I hope this letter finds you well and you are coping with the heat. The heatwave we are experiencing so far this summer has certainly caught us out and given us a small taste of what some countries across the world are experiencing. It’s also woken us up to the fact the weather is changing, and nature around us, is struggling.
The Green schools programme was started by the Anglican church of South India and is founded on the idea that global change regarding climate issues will only happen if we encourage the next generation to appreciate nature.
As the school holidays begin lets help remind our children and grandchildren how lucky we are to have so much wildlife around us. It is great to see the way our young children and families take such an interest in wildlife and I love to see them out and about on their bicycles and exploring our nature reserves around the county, committed to the involvement of children and their experience of nature and their respect of it.
I quote ‘This is the best education you can give. Nature will reveal its treasures to the students who will observe nature respectfully, and curiosity will influence each student to change their mind set’.
We hear some awful reports of children and adults deliberately wounding animals and birds. We all need to look at how we live in respect of the environment and take every opportunity to remind each other that each and everything God has created has its own unique value and should be treated with respect and compassion.
The extreme heat reminds us how precious water is and needed, by us and our pets and the wildlife around us , remembering we need to drink more water and to keep full our pets bowls and garden water vessels.
Harvest has begun, and so has the holiday season, please keep safe and be aware of slow moving large machinery moving around our country lanes making their way from field to field. The hot weather doesn’t always bring out the best in us!
Diary dates: Monday 4th August Coffee morning in Revesby village hall amazing cakes and raffle.
