Building Connections with the Joseph Banks Centre, Horncastle
Earlier this month, I had the pleasure of visiting the Joseph Banks Centre in Horncastle to explore ways in which the Centre and Revesby Estate might work together in the future.
With our shared connections to Sir Joseph Banks, Lincolnshire’s rich natural heritage, and a passion for education and community engagement, there are many exciting opportunities for collaboration.
The Joseph Banks Centre is dedicated to celebrating the life and achievements of Sir Joseph Banks (1743–1820), the renowned botanist, explorer and naturalist who accompanied Captain Cook on his first voyage to the Pacific.
Through fascinating exhibits, artefacts and interactive displays, visitors can discover how Banks helped shape our understanding of the natural world and influenced science, agriculture and horticulture across the globe.
The Centre and the Sir Joseph Banks Society organise a varied programme of talks, lectures, educational events and exhibitions throughout the year. Whether your interests lie in history, gardening, exploration, wildlife or Lincolnshire heritage, there is something to inspire visitors of all ages.
As we discussed opportunities for future collaboration, it became clear that both organisations share a desire to connect people with the landscape, history and stories that make Lincolnshire unique. We look forward to developing this relationship further and exploring opportunities for joint events, heritage experiences and educational activities in the future.
