Showtime with the Sheep!
June was another busy month of sheep shows. First was The Three Counties Show where I helped show my friend’s sheep at the Zwartble (sheep breed) National Show. Then I had one day between The Three Counties Show and The Lincolnshire Show to get the sheep ready and trimmed to leave on the Tuesday! After 8 hours of trimming they were ready to go.
They all settled in quickly. The first sheep in were Monty and Merlot. After doing so well at The National Show they were not the Judge’s choice this time, (which was expected as they are more commercial than traditional being the biggest in the ring).
Then my lambs went in and which also did well in a big class.
The ewes took the show. Crunchie won the ‘Aged Ewe’ class and Gizmo was 3rd. I then took Crunchie into the championship and she was ‘Reserve Female Champion’!
I am over-the-moon with the results so far for this year! Seeing my rams prove themselves at the National Show and my ewes win most shows this year has been so special and rewarding. We have one little show to finish, then my focus turns to getting the rams in with the ewes- ready for lambing time in January.
