Take a Moment- May 2025
Any life event, a Birth, a Wedding, Christening or Funeral is a time to reconnect with people and a time to make some good memories.
With the spring and summer to enjoy and moods generally lifted, it gives us opportunities to plan and to enjoy getting together and a time to form and build relationships.
We hear in the Gospel of St John 2 verse 1-11 of Jesus getting together with his friends and was able to turn, what would have been a disastrous moment, into a much talked about one, as when the wine ran out, he turned water into wine. (Just the friend to have at your party!)
I hope with the season ahead you will have chance to send time with those you care about. Let’s get together and make new memories, because friendships and family are what makes the world go round, they maybe need effort sometimes but is always worth it. Jesus it is recorded, walked many miles to get together with friends and those he needed to talk to. Today most of us have cars so it needs a lot less effort.
And of course many Friendships have been made possible because of the internet. It is easier to enjoy and meet people all over the world today. Many people are able to keep regular contact with loved ones, be able to see each other laugh together and share these special events like those mentioned at the beginning of this letter. All possible through social media. We hear so much about the negative side of the internet these days it is easy to forget it has changed lives, for good, for many family separated by distance.
As wonderful as it can be and a life line for many, nothing beats the real thing, a face to face, getting together and spending time. I do hope you will all be able to enjoy such times in the summer season ahead.
