Revesby Farms Potato Tubers
The Estate farms 1220 hectares of land in hand. This goes under the name of Revesby Farms and is managed closely between the Wiggins-Davies family and Farm Manager Chris Baylis.
Potato tubers were first brought into the country back in 1586 by Sir Walter Raleigh, a distant relative of Estate owners.
The farm produces in excess of 3500 tonnes of pre-packed potatoes annually, which are now grown in a joint venture with a major retailer. This venture has allowed;
- Both the grower and retailer to share the risk and reward of the crop
- Increased the understanding of the growing and marketing of the crop for both parties
- Enabled a more efficient enterprise based on a close relationship between grower and retailer.
